Vietnam was a province of the Chinese emperor for mile years and therefore the Vietnamese society was influenced by the Confucian philosophy.
In the second century, the Chinese Han dynasty succeeded in establishing a dominant government at Giao Chi, the land of Vietnam. While the center and south of Vietnam was controlled by the Champa kingdom where people follow Hindu culture.
During the period of the Tiang empire, in the sixth century, Buddhism played a major role compared to Confucianism. But after that, in the year 1000, the role of Confucian philosophy returned.
When Vietnam gained independence, Confucianism was estimated as the doctrine of the state during the Ly and Le dynasty. The temple of literature, or the temple of Confucius, was clear evidence for the development of Confucianism.

The Confucian doctrine appreciates the education and hierarchy of society. Instruction is the basis for maintaining the moral bonds of society. The doctrine appreciates the code of the Virtues as the guiding role to become a perfect man (Junxi).
There are some main ties that form society as:
The link between the king and his subjects
The family bond
The social bond as between friends. Etc
Confucianism follows the monarchy whose power is centralized and the state ownership of the earth.

Appreciates righteousness '' Chinh Danh '' Right means, that is, everyone must rightly involve his position and career. So it follows the law or the street '' Dao ''

Reigning the country via '' wisdom, knowledge, or awareness ''

Ritual and humanity or Ritual norms

Confucianism also appreciates equality on the basis of Chinh Danh, rectitude, Righteous means, that is, conduct appropriate to one's own role, to one's condition.

In the Vietnamese feudal history, virtuous specimens were esteemed and later became Saints and Martyrs in the history of the country. They were characters who sacrificed for the country, for the master, the king, etc. Confucianism has estimated at most the personal sacraphics for the general mission, for the country, the master, and for the community.

The Confucianism becomes masculine .

The strongest imprint of Confucianism in Vietnamese society is the masculine tradition.

The Vietnamese say the origin of the male-dominated society comes from the Confucian doctrine. But we know that the male chauvinist exists throughout the ancient world in which the male role of war is appreciated.

The development of the Confucian doctrine during the history of Vietnam leaves its strong mark on social life.

Especially where the percentage of the rural area occupies the greater part of the country. The thread of the traditional bond is strong among the generations that allows tradition exists despite the waves of foreign values imported from globalization.

In Vietnam, the temple dedicated to the Confucian doctrine is called '' Mieu '' and the statue of Confucius and his disciples are deified as '' Thanh '', equal to Saint of the Catholicism.

The moral and ritual norms of the Confucian doctrine influences married life, the family relations of the Vietnamese.
