Boat people or the refugee boat, Thuyen nhan, Nguoi Tau ...

The term indicates Boat People Vietnamese refugees fled by sea on often unsafe boats to features and maintenance.
Many of them have lost their lives at sea devoured by sharks or killed and robbed by Malaysian and Vietnamese pirates .
Few of them were lucky landing in Hong Kong or Malaysia at the center of some refugees centers, but from that moment began a long road to get to the land of the promises of paradise world.
Yes, they have escaped from hell or from the socialist paradise "Thien Duong Xa Hoi Chu Nghia" having as a goal the new horizon of the capitalist paradise.
Few know that the word Boat People has been used by the Vietnamese three hundred years ago to describe the illegal Chinese fled because of war and poverty along the south China sea following the wind of November, from north to south along the ancient trade route of Chinese merchant sailors to land in some port at the end of the long coastline of the peace  country Annam.
"Tau O" or "Tau Khua", "Ba Tau" all derogatory terms that indicate illegal Chinese in Vietnam.
Three hundred years after the first Chinese immigration in Vietnam, the Vietnamese are due more to flee by boat along the opposite road and were called boat people, "Thuyen Nhan"; the people of the boats.
After the long period of wars with France and the United States, Vietnam's economy has been badly weakened: the armed struggle against power is over and now and 'started a new fight on many different fronts.
An internal struggle for political power between a conservative and a modern, an odorless explosive fight but no less dangerous, sometimes with big bloodshed.
At the end of a political-social Soviet-type model it was applied to the USSR in exchange for subsidies.
Vietnam gained independence of thought, but lost economic independence.
The Soviet economic model has killed any incentive to the economy and private initiative.
The engine of the economy was state-type and is based on the subsidy: the whole system is thankfully finally collapsed with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
During the period of the war, Vietnam has remained isolated because of the danger of landmines and  bombing, but the people had no fear because all were able to overcome the fear of death.
But when it had peace, the greatest fear was poverty, hunger and political crackdown.
The escape
Also this time, the first escape after the war 'was precisely the "boat people" Chinese.
A great tension between the communist government of Vietnam and the community 'Chinese in Sai gon respect to economic issues and relate to private property.
Before 1975, the year of unification, the community 'Chinese "Hoa Kieu", or pejoratively "Ba Tau", more controlled 80% of the economy of Sai gon.
Following the political and economic relations of the two aspects, pro-American government and the Vietcong and the Chinese Communists, the Chinese company in Sai gon has built an underground economy of activities' business in all sectors.
After the unification, the relationship between Hanoi and Peiking did not go well as it was before: Hanoi was afraid of internal factors caused by the Chinese community, especially when Vietnam has sent soldiers in Cambodia and  in 1979 the Chinese PLA attacked the whole North Vietnamese border.
The Chinese in Vietnam would not accept the Vietnamese citizenship and thus the Vietnamese government began a policy against "Ba Tau" Chinese to force them to flee in a legal manner and with illegal systems.
There are 4 ways to escape:

Leave the country illegally through international waters as fishermen.
Bribe local officials to turn a blind eye to the cost of about 6 "Luong Vang ", a gold bar of about 38gr. Gold.
Corrupt the provincial-level officials for permission paying 12 "Luong Vang" to buy food, oil, ect.
Exit the country legally for a fee for those who were registered to Sai gon cost 12 "Luong Vang " in exchange for leaving the home ownership documents: in this case the municipality organized the transportation by a large boat to go to China.

Between 1975 until 1986 the refugees were about more than a million, but about 500 million people have paid with their lives in the sea because of the presence of pirates and typhoons.
The phenomenon of the Boat People "Thuyen Nhan" has brought a bad name to the Vietnamese communist government in Vietnam and therefore no state media today gave permission to remember and talk about these events, even in the history book used in schools.
It seems that in this country it takes so much more time to study and understand its own history!
