From Hanoi to Halong bay
If you start from the center of Hanoi, the hustle and bustle city life with many narrow street the we call 36 old street. Once the Vietnamese used to sell many particular products from all the part of country. The red river is actually symbol of this city, the mother feeds many fertile regions of the delta. The river comes from the far northern part of Vietnam Chinese border, runs approximately 600 km in Vietnam between two high mountain chains; Hoang Lien and Con Voi , the elephant. Just exit the city we meet the old bridge, Long Bien, built by the French,  one of the first bridge across the mother river. The American tried many times to bomb and destroy it, but now the unification espress train still run on it.
Gia lam is a small quarter of Hanoi famous for its motels of lovers, but now is normal in Vietnam. Not far from the road number 5 there is the military airport of Gia lam where some old Russian helicopters take off making a big noise to the people living on the dyke.  Bat trang village is not far from here where tourists can find some fine ceramic handmade vases.
From the road 5, this road leads to Hai phong port, the biggest of the north,  turn left to the road A1. This directs to the nearest china border gate, Lang son, only 140 km. during history of Vietnam, many times the Chinese invaders acrossed this border to the capital of Vietnam. Again, you will meet the Duong river, one branch of the red river. Go across the Phu dong bridge to Bac ninh province.  There are many bread vendors on the high way hoping to sell to people coming back home from the city.
One of the most surprising thing to tourist is cemetery scattered on the rice fields, so many tombs. One time, people could bury their ancestors in their own land. And people in country side live and die in their own land. In Vietnam, the tombs and spirits are very important for daily life of the living people. Of course, people think the world after death still affects our daily lives in both negative and positive way.
