The religion is very important for asian people, so there are many regulations the visitors have to respect when enter in one temple.

In Vietnam, there is no fix regulation in Vietnam. nowadays, buddhism is the magior religion but it is changed alot. So it depends on which pagodas you visited.

In Hanoi some pagoda like: Tran Quoc, Quan Su, one stilt pagoda,   you have to take off shoes.
almost taoist temples you can enter with shoes.
In Hue, Thien Mu pagoda, you have take off when enter the main hall of ceremonies.
Hoi an, no take off,
Ho chi Minh city no take off

In Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar, all pagodas have to take off shoes and have to wear long shirts and trousers.
